Tonight for the discussions we’re bringing back three of our guest from last season to dig in deeper to the divine question. Is there a God and is Atheism really as rational as some believe? From this discussion; what are the ramifications to evolution and the nature of man? These and more tonight at 8p Central. You can watch the live show here or send in questions during the broadcast if you’re connected to our “Sunday Night Discussions” page on Google + or Face Book. So grab a friend, some coffee, and come ready to discuss.
Would you believe it? I got a red-light ticket last month. My violation occurred the day after Christmas when I drove up to Austin to meet with Robert Tippett for lunch and some Sunday Night Discussions strategy time. Actually I was informed later on that technically it was in Round Rock, Texas where my heinous crime occurred and that my geographical blunder was very offensive to both Austin-ites and as well as citizens of Round Rock. Sorry about that. In short, I was trying to navigate traffic in an unfamiliar area and I took a right turn on red without coming to a full and complete stop. Yes, there in lay my crime. I know the law. One must come to a complete stop before turning right on red. Taking a quick look before turning doesn’t cut the mustard. I was frustrated though and in a hurry. So I figured my intentions were good enough. I just assumed that overall I’m not a bad driver. I mean this is only the second ticket since I got my license the day after I turned 16. I didn’t hurt anyone and my haste was obviously for a good purpose. It should not have been a big deal at all. Come on, it’s not like I had road rage or something.
A major hot button of our time is the issue of Gay Marriage and the rapidly growing influence of the LGBT philosophy into the fabric of Western culture. While there are indeed major political ramifications to this topic, the real question though rests in the realm of the divine. What does God say about human sexuality? Does the Bible really speak to the issue and is it relevant for today? Are some people created “gay” in the present understanding of the word by God himself? Is this simply a genetic part in the evolutionary biological process? Is homosexual practice really a sin and if so how should it be responded to? Is there really a deeper issue at play here? Who and what are we as mankind and how does that intersect with God and His design? Join us tonight at 8p central for Sunday Night Discussion as we dive into this weighty and sometimes very emotional topic.
The Problem of Evil! Tune in tonight at 8p Central as we look at this profound question. If there really is a God and a God that is good, then why is there evil, suffering, and pain in the world? Where does it come from and where is it going? Will God remain silent and can anything be done?
“Who do people say I am?” That question by Jesus Christ is probably one of the most important questions of all time. Good teacher? Misguided fanatic? Son of God? God himself in the flesh? Those and other questions will be examined here tonight at 8p Central as we look at the identity of this mysterious man of whom so much debate has arisen over the past 2000 years. Napoleon once proclaimed that he “knew men; and I tell you that Jesus Christ is not a man.” True or False? Fact of Fiction? What are the ramifications? So grab a friend and a good cup of coffee and we’ll see you tonight. Remember that if you log in to the show through Google + and the “Sunday Night Discussions” page you can send in questions while the show is live. You can also watch here and then send in questions to me via email or Face Book. Looking forward to tonight and hope to see you soon.
Tonight we will take on part II of our discussion over Atheism verses Theism. I’m excited to finally sit down with my friend Robert Tippett as we interview Stan Stephen about his journey from growing up with a general Theistic world view, moving into atheism, and then back to God. Stan is an incredibly intelligent man with a career in engineering. His journey back to God simply began with rationalistic thinking and discovering the fallacies in many of the modern atheistic arguments. So set your schedule now to meet us at 8p Central for the live webcast and feel free to send in questions if you are viewing through Google +.
I’m looking forward to the “Discussions” this evening at 8p central. Tonight we will have a self-proclaimed “30 Year Atheists” as one of our guest as we look at the question of divinity verses atheism. We will also spend some time early in the show addressing a serious question regarding the Bible from last week’s show. One of the key components of really making SND a great webcast is the questions that come in from our viewing audience. No question is off limits and we’ll make an attempt to address as many as we can. I’ve posted the question that we’ll be looking at below. It came from one of my newer fiends from Europe. It’s going to be a great show so be sure to grab a friend and log in at 8p central. If you have a Google + account you can also find the SND page and send in questions while the show is live. Look forward to seeing you soon.
The Bible? Our live webcast this Sunday is going to be GREAT. I’ve been looking forward to this episode from the start as it will address the very real and practical question of the authenticity of the Bible. Can we trust the Bible? Isn’t it just another book written by men a long time ago? Does it have relevance for today? What are the facts and the fallacies? What are the myths and the evidences? These and many other questions will be asked and addressed this Sunday night at 8p central and we’d love to have you stop by. If you have a Google + account you can participate in Q&A with other viewers on the Google + Sunday Night Discussions page. So grab a friend and come and see!
In this week’s show we will look at world views and consider how they influence our beliefs, thinking, and actions. We will ask how we arrive at our understanding of the world and what ramifications accompany those paradigms. If you have a Google + account you can also log into our SND page and send in questions. So grab a friend and come and see. Look forward to seeing you live at 8p central tonight.
I never really liked the title of the NPR program “All Things Considered.” Maybe it’s because the title somehow just felt shallow. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but it seemed like “all things considered” really means “all things that Robert Siegel and the producers want to consider.” Like many NPR programs, there seems to be a bent to purposefully stay away from and shun any position which has even an inkling of a serious Christian worldview. That is unless the point is to attack such a paradigm. Yet I wonder; what would the fabric of any culture actually look like where the vast majority of people held Christ as King and the Bible as authoritative? What could theoretically happen when an authentic Christian Worldview was actually played out in a society?
Yes, I know that many in our present American and Western cultures would flee from such an idea like an OU fan trying to get out of Memorial Stadium in Austin right after the Longhorns won. Some would even fight such a proposition with a special antagonism. It reminds me of the View episode back in 2006 when Rosie O’Donnell postulated to Elisabeth Hasselbeck that “Radical Christianity is just as threatening as Radical Islam.”
