That is true about many wanting to carry over the 'get the most bang for our buck" mentality into missions. I hurt for those who are not reached, (not told of Jesus' love, forgiveness and thus not given a second chance at this life & the one to come) because that particular place where they happen to live isn't a place with "the greatest chance of success."

"So I wondered, why is it that when people start talking about church planting they always want to go to places that are comfortable, exciting, and “offer the greatest chances of success?" "
well, I think human nature and logic often say to us that we should "get the most bang for our buck", so planting a church where you have 'the greatest chance of success' could often make sense on the surface, as opposed to planting a church where there is little chance of success.

Steve, I enjoyed your writings and your thoughts and I remember when you and Debi went to Russia. We stayed in the Patagonia, to be exact in Rio Gallegos, Argentina, which is the closest that you can get to the South Pole. We just stayed 23 1/2 hrs. there. The next flight out of Rio Gallegos was the next day and that is when we got out. To begin with, we planned it that way. What is there?...Lots of sheep...lots of tundra...grass..Main product?...Oil... Who lives there?...Mainly, Argentinias, Englishmen and English women...Buenos Aires was more beautiful. We spent about a week there. Brazil is beautiful... Rio de Jaineiro... Ouro Preto are great!!! Please continue inspiring!!!
Saludos,
